Can I message one member privately, and can members message each other?

Message one member from Community, then Members. Their reply comes back to that screen, not your email. Members messaging each other is a separate setting.

Updated 29 September 2026

A private message is private: it goes to that one person and appears nowhere in the community feed. It is not a broadcast and it is not a post.
  1. Open Members and find their row

Every member has a Message button on their row. Conversations sit above the directory, empty until you write to somebody. Replies land there, not in your inbox.

  2. Press Message, type, and press Send

The conversation opens beside the list with a box at the bottom. The line above it says whether they're online, and that they get an email and answer in their own time.

  3. Decide whether members can message each other

In Settings, then Community, under a heading called Anti-poaching. On lets members talk to each other privately. Off means only you can message them. Member directory visibility sits beside it.

On is a community. Off protects the room. Read the heading.

You will know it worked when you have written to one member privately, and their reply will come back to the Members screen.

Can I approve new members before they get into my community?

Yes. Switch on approval and anyone who asks to join waits in a Requests list in Members until you let them in, the way a private LinkedIn or Facebook group works. People you invite, and people who pay, still go straight in. About five minutes to set up.

Can I change a member's post before I approve it?

No. A post waiting for your approval can only be approved or rejected, so you cannot change a member's words. If a few words need changing, approve it and add a comment, or message the member and reject it.

Can I check comments before they go up?

Turn on comment approval and every member comment waits for you. It's a separate switch from the one for posts.
